Toyota had an initial sales target of 290,000 units early in the month of June. A company official said that Toyota is banking on the new Corolla’s hiked sales based on its increased popularity post launch. The sales figures are a result of the optimistic calculation that is based on the sales rates of the popular current generation Corolla.

The group vice president at Toyota Motor, Bill Fay has reportedly told the media that he thinks that the company is expecting the sales of about 300,000 units of Corolla this year.

Fay has revealed his own sales expectations for the Corolla in the year 2014 to 330,000 units, though another sales forecast of the company numbering to 350,000 units is also not irrelevant.

Toyota may very well expect the snazzy 2014 Corolla to draw the number of 330,000 based on the record sales of the older generation Corolla of 335,119 Corollas in the U.S market in 2006.

Negating the immense competition in its segment that have excellent rival cars such as the  Hyundai Elantra, Kia Forte, Ford Focus and Chevrolet Cruze, Toyota is confident about the Corolla’s command over the market, as it had in the year 2006.

Fay added that with enhancements of the 2014 Corolla, pricing strategy and the packaging, the company is optimistic about the car’s success. Moreover the company is also happy about the marketing.

The Toyota Corolla’s archrival in terms of success remains the Honda Civic. The Corolla and the Civic have been competing for the first position in the U.S market in the particular segment in the last 10 years. The Honda Civic overtook Corolla to take over the top spot in the year 2012.

More details, including the pricing of the all new 2014 Corolla will be released on 27th of August, 2013. Toyota has already revealed that the next generation model will be sold in four grades with the new LE Eco grade included. Under its hood, the all new Corolla will have the same 1.8 Liter 4 cylinder engine that runs the current model. However there will be some tweaking to the powertrain.

The Corolla is one of the world’s bestselling cars, and Toyota has sold over 10 million cars till now.

The all new 2014 Corolla with its completely new aggressive exterior looks and a fresh and equally stunning interior is targeted at the younger car consumers. As expected by its maker, this new car is sure to create new records for Toyota.
