Toyota to auction used cars soon in India

Toyota, taking a very gutsy initiative, will start auctioning used cars in the Indian Territory. This move has been practiced by the Japanese automaker company, Toyota in many countries across the world and now it will be initiated in India as well. The part reason for this step is to make up for the humiliation caused as the company has been missing a lot of profits on the set sales targets for the Indian market. The company has been operational in India for the last two decades and keeping two or three of its models aside, there is not enough success in its resume.

A senior company official recently said in Bangalore that the Indian market has always been one of the most important preferences and the launch if the 2015 Toyota Auction market will concrete the fact. The event will take place in September this year and the company will use the event as an opportunity to sell its used car and to spread awareness about company’s products. The highly skilled mechanics of the company will do the servicing and repairing of the cars and it will be made available once it is certified as sellable.

This step is widely regarded as a big opportunity for the company to create its reputation among the Indians and will concrete its position as a ‘customer first’ company as the consumers will have the final say during and after the auctions. As it is reported that the sales of the fresh showroom cars have been quite slow when compared to the used cars market, it becomes clear that the second hand car market is on its way to become a very important market in itself.

Toyota is already having an operational used car sales/purchase system known popularly as Toyota Utrust. Other than Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Volkswagen among other top companies are also running the same type of operations which establishes a fact that used car market will become as big as (if not bigger) the new car markets in not very far future.

The company executive also said that the skilful engineers from the company will inspect the car based on at least 203 points and will then decide the condition and the price of the car on which it is to be auctioned. Everything will work in a very systematic way and will provide the consumers with a lot of good options. He further added that this will be better than the current scenario where the dealers buy the used cars just to dispose them off which is not very professional way of dealing with a car. Talking about the Indian scenario, here, the used car market is not professional and is being handled by mostly unprofessional dealers. While in other parts of the world, the used car business is handled with delicacy and professionalism. However the Indian used car market is among the biggest in the world, but the unprofessional handling by the dealers and buyers are making the entire process look unsettled.
