Toyota Rush launch date India

Toyota Motor Corporation is the world’s leading auto maker. Toyota owns Daihatsu, which is the oldest car maker in Japan and primarily used to sell lower cost models from Toyota. Daihatsu manufactures a range of cars that are sold in Japan and other South East Asian markets. Some rebadged Daihatsu vehicles are also sold under Toyota brand in many markets, such as the Toyota Rush which is actually the rebadged Daihatsu Terios.

The Toyota Rush is selling success fully in Indonesia and is naturally expected to emerge in India as well. Toyota Kirloskar Motor is speculated to be preparing the Rush compact SUV in India for quite some time now, considering the highly potential compact SUV market in the country. As per reports, Toyota is going to commence the road tests of the Rush on the Indian roads soon.  Though it is yet not confirmed, the Toyota Rush is also speculated to be unveiled at the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo along with the latest-gen Corolla sedan. As per the speculations, the Toyota Rush compact SUV will be placed a segment lower than that of the Fortuner. When it comes to styling, the Rush also has some design similarities with the Fortuner.

Reports also say that Toyota looking out to avail the lower excise duty benefits that the Indian government offers to the sub-4 meter vehicles. Since the new generation Rush though compact, has a length well over 4 meters, the Japanese giant is considering to slash its length and make it fit into the sub-4 meter segment.

In the international car markets, the Toyota Rush is driven by a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder petrol engine which has the capacity to deliver a max power output 109PS and peak torque of 141Nm. The engine is mated to either a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic transmission gearbox. If and when the Rush launches in India, the compact SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.5 liter petrol and a 1.4 liter D-4D turbocharged diesel engines that run the Toyota Etios and Liva models in India.

The Toyota Rush compact SUV is available in the options of a 5 seater and a 7 seater models and offers 4X2 as well as 4X4 drive options. If the Rush really makes it to the Indian car market, then it will be Toyota’s capable contender pitched against some very popular compact SUV models of recent times, such as the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano.

However, Toyota’s high officials have announced earlier that the company has no plans to launch brand new models in India before 2015. Thus, the Rush may be expected to arrive to the Indian market sometime in 2015.

Considering the highly competitive scenario of the Indian auto market, and the rising popularity of the compact SUV segment, Toyota should bring in the Rush. All the major car makers of India such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Honda are gearing up with their compact SUV representatives to launch within the next 2 years.
